This delightful image of the Ford, or “The Splash” has just come to our attention.
It is an oil painting, probably done before the Second World War, perhaps around 1930. Unfortunately it is not possible to decipher the artist’s signature.
The house in the background was the childhood home of Brenda Burtenshaw, Chairwoman of the History Group, and it remains almost unchanged today. The bridge, though, has had probably more than one upgrade since the painting was done!
